So, for the next 3 months or so, I'll be trying something new.  I want to work on my character design and portraiture, so I'll be doing week-long themes and assignments for myself.  They'll be posted here to keep track. So I just read this post from the Artist Hospital: http://fav.me/d55uwsj and he has some WONDERFUL advice on why creative blocks come up, and how to break them.  If you check out some of the other journals in the Artist Hospital group, it looks like they just started up some sketch jams, themed sketch weeks, and mini-contests, which are also great ways to break out of an artless funk. 10,000 Hours

So, with the whole "10,000 hours rule" to be an expert on something (Art), that would take 4 hours a day, every day, for a little less than 7 years.  Starting now, not counting the time I've already spent, starting from square one.  I would end up in July 2019. Where do I want to be in seven years? I want to be working on something important.  I want it to be something that challenges all of my skills and abilities, and uses them to their fullest extent to help build something greater than myself.  In seven years, chances are I'll be starting my own family.  I don't want this to get put aside.
